Jordan condemns Israeli closure of Bab Al Rahma in Jerusalem

Israel has no juridiction over East Jerusalem and its holy sites which are considered occupied areas under international law

Dubai: Jordan has strongly condemned a recent decision by the Israeli Magistrates Court to close down the Bab Al Rahma building in the Al Haram Al Sharif in occupied East Jerusalem which houses Al Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam.

The Israeli judiciary had no jurisdiction over East Jerusalem and its holy sites which are considered occupied areas subject to international law, Mohammad Momani, state minister for media affairs said.

Earlier in the week, King Abdullah received Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and discussed the latest developments in the region including Israeli violations in Occupied Jerusalem and the situation in Syria.

Abdullah and Lavrov emphasised the importance of promoting bilateral ties in political, military and economic spheres.
