Tehran: A Revolutionary Guards pilot died and another was injured on Monday as a small plane from Iran’s elite forces crashed in the southeast of the country near the Pakistan border.

“An ultralight gyroplane of the Guards’ ground forces had an accident on the way back from a reconnaissance mission near Iranshahr” in the border province of Sistan-Baluchistan, the official Guards website Sepahnews said.

It identified the “martyred” pilot as Ahmad Maylee.

Fars news agency quoted a regional Guards spokesman saying the plane crashed due to technical failure.
