Egyptian police wound illegal migrant border

Ismailia: Egyptian police shot and wounded a Nigerian woman trying to cross illegally to Israel through the Sinai peninsula on Sunday, an Egyptian security official said.

The woman was shot in the right leg after ignoring police demands to stop while she was trying to cross the border, the official said.

Rights group Amnesty International has reported that thousands of migrants try to cross into Israel from Egypt each year, looking for jobs and better living conditions.
