Bush warns Iran over nuclear plan

Meseberg: US President George W. Bush on Wednesday warned that “all options'' for dealing with Iran were on the table.

Bush made the statement after talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel while on his farewell tour of Europe.

At a joint press conference, Bush said they will give diplomacy a chance to work but said 'all options are on the table and my first choice is to solve this diplomatically."

During the talks Bush pressed for stronger measures against Iran, including adding stricter sanctions on the country, and said the message to Iran was “very clear''.

Bush is attempting to lay the groundwork on US policies for his successor, including the position against Iran.

Iran has repeatedly refused to contain its nuclear programme despite continuous pressure from international sources.

Defying latest threats, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday said Bush and Iran's foes would not be able to "harm even a centimetre" of its territory.

"I tell Bush ... that your era has ended and thank God you will not be able to damage even one centimetre of the holy land of Iran," Ahmadinejad said in a televised speech in the city of Shahr-e Kord.
