3 Palestinians killed near border

Gaza: Israeli soldiers opened fire on Palestinian militants on Saturday, killing three and critically wounding one near the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel.

Palestinian rescue workers said the men had been wearing uniforms of Palestinian militant groups but could not identify their affiliation.

An Israeli army spokeswoman confirmed the incident. She said the soldiers shot the Palestinians militants who were placing explosive devices near the border fence.

Palestinian militants have attempted to plant more than 50 bombs near the border since a November cease-fire between Gaza militants and Israel took effect, the military said.
