Sana'a: Three Yemen soldiers and three Al Qaida operatives were killed on Tuesday in the south, local sources said.
Militants loyal to Al-Qaida-linked Ansar Al Sharia set an ambush to army cars carrying supplies to the government troops that fight militants in Zinjebar in the restive province of Abyan.
Travelers on the road between Zinjebar and Aden complained that they got delayed when government forces locked the road immediately after the attack.
The attack is a series of deadly attacks by Al Qaida militants in the south as they trying to stop the advance of the army.
Drones
On Monday, two airstrikes, purportedly carried out by US drones, killed nine Al Qaida militants in two different provinces in Yemen.
In the province of Baydha, an warplane targeted a car carrying Al Qaida militants, including leaders, in the district of Waled Rabae, killing five people and injuring eight others, the Ministry of Defence said.
Also another an airstrike killed on Monday afternoon at least four Al Qaida operatives in Maifa'a district, west the port city of Mukalla, Hadramout province. The militants who were inside a car said to be coming from Al Qaida's stronghold in the southern province of Shabwa.
