Cairo: Thousands of visitors have flocked to an annual honey festival in the Saudi south-western region of Baha since it kicked off on Saturday. Around 10,000 people toured the event on Sunday, the official Saudi news agency SPA reported.

Fifty exhibitors are participating with a total of 20 tons of honey in the festival, head of the organising committee Ahmad Al Khazam said.

“The exhibition features liquid honey and honey wax with the participation of apiarists from different areas of Saudi Arabia and Arab countries,” he told Saudi newspaper Okaz.

The festival is considered the biggest for honey producers and apiarists in the Middle East.

This year’s edition includes an exhibition of honey products, tools of bee breeding and colourful activities for children including contests.
