Saudi charity helps the blind understand Quran

Riyadh: A charitable organisation in Saudi Arabia has announced an initiative to distribute braille versions of the Quran to blind people in the country and around the world.

The charitable organisation named Ibsar will soon undertake the mission to distribute braille copies of the Quran starting from Makkah, where it will be distributed to registered blind people who can read braille, according to the Al Sharq Al Awsat newspaper.

The second stage of the initiative will involve distributing copies of the Quran as far as the Al Aqsa mosque in occupied Jerusalem. This decision is consequent to a request from the mosque administration.

The head of Ibsar, Tawfiq Bulu, said the organisation currently has 507 registered members who can read braille, and 667 registered vision-impaired individuals who cannot read braille but can read regular text in enlarged fonts.
