Saudi Arabia: Man arrested for promoting drugs on social media in Asir

Abu Dhabi: A Saudi man in his 40s has been arrested for promoting drug abuse on social media in Asir, southwest Saudi Arabia, police said.

“The suspect posted a number of video clips on social media, calling for experiencing illegal drugs and portraying drug abuse in a positive light,” said Lieutenant Colonel Zaid Al Dabbash, spokesperson of Asir Police.

Al Dabbash added preliminary findings indicated that the suspect suffers from psychiatric disorders.

He was referred to authorities, police said.
