Manama: The Ministry of Interior in Qatar has promised to provide a better service to the public throughout the month of Ramadan.

Departments including traffic, civil defence and emergency services, have intensified efforts across the board as a result.

Captain Hassan Mohammad Al Kawari, Head of the Technical Support Department of the Operation Room, said the control room (999) was prepared to respond to public calls, 24 hours a day, in a number of languages, including Arabic, English, Hindi, Germany, Russian, Persian, French and Spanish.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Riyad Ahmad, of the Traffic Department, has taken steps to deal with road congestion that may occur during peak hours and before and after Iftar.

Lieutenant Colonel Jamal Al Kaabi, Deputy Director of the Criminal Research Department, said his department had intensified police patrols over Ramadan, in order to catch beggars who take advantage of the holy month.
