Dubai: Qatar on Wednesday pledged $500 million to support reconstruction in the Gaza Strip after an 11-day large-scale Israeli offensive.
The announcement was made by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, on his twitter account.
The pledge is on the orders of Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to help rebuilding Gaza following a ceasefire that ended a war between Israel and Palestinians.
“We will continue to support our brethren in Palestine in order to reach a just and lasting solution by establishing their independent state,” the Foreign Minister said in a Twitter post.
