Search on for US sailor missing in Gulf of Oman

Manama: The United States and British navies are searching for an American sailor who went missing during operations in the Gulf of Oman, the Bahrain-based US Fifth Fleet announced in a statement.

“US and British units are searching for a sailor from USS Halsey (DDG-97) who went missing while the ship was conducting operations in the Gulf of Oman,” said the statement, issued late Tuesday.

“The sailor's name is being withheld while the search is ongoing,” the statement added, without giving further details of the accident.
