Muscat: Oman’s Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed will preside over the opening of the sixth term of the Council of Oman at Hisn Al Shumookh in Manah province on November 15, according to a statement issued by the Diwan of Royal Court.

The opening session will be attended by members of the ruling family, members of the council of ministers, the Chairman of the State Council, and the Chairman of the Shura Council, a statement issued by the Diwan of Royal Court said.

It may be recalled that Sultan Qaboos was not present during the 44th National Day celebrations last year as he was in Germany to undergo medical treatment. For the same reason, Sultan Qaboos also could not open the fifth term of the Council of Oman in 2014.

On November 5, 2014, Sultan Qaboos reassured citizens about his health in a video address from Germany. In the video address aired on state news channel Oman TV, Sultan Qaboos greeted citizens on the occasion of the country’s 44th National Day, which falls on November 18, and expressed regret for not being able to be present during the celebrations.

The National Day this year will mark 45 years since Sultan Qaboos ascended the throne and he is expected to participate in celebrations across the country.
