Muscat Police in Oman have continued their crackdown against drug crime with the arrests of an Omani citizen and five expatriates in different parts of Muscat.
According to a Royal Oman Police (ROP) press release Monday, the police arrested an Omani citizen from Seeb suburb of Muscat.
“We had information that the accused would receive drugs for peddling from an Asian country,” a ROP spokesperson said.
He added that the police raided the Omani suspect’s house and arrested him, after finding an unspecified amount of heroin and other banned pills.

“The police have also seized money found during the raid that is believed to be part of income from selling drugs,” he added.
Earlier, the police said they had arrested two Asians from North Mabellah area of Muscat on the charges of drug trafficking.
“Three other were also arrested in from South Mabellah with 80 capsules of heroin in their possession,” he said.
Illegal residents
Meanwhile, the police said they had caught 249 illegal residents from Buraimi area on Sunday.
“The illegal residents, including 32 women, were arrested from farms as well as some residential areas in Buraimi,” the ROP spokesperson said.
He pointed out that 112 were infiltrators while 137 had violated labour laws.
