Muscat: Oman’s social media platforms erupted with colourful messages celebrating women in Oman on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

Leading the way was Oman’s First Lady, Sayyida Ahad bint Abdullah bin Hamad Al Busaidiyah.

“Today, as we share this happy occasion with the world, we are proud of the prestigious status of Omani women, both locally and internationally, that reflects an advanced national vision. We also remember with appreciation the great efforts made by women in our dear homeland, and also around the world,” she said.

The First Lady drew attention to the role played by women in building, developing and supporting their families and societies, and their effective and influential contributions to humanitarian and global issues. She said that their efforts are prompted by the spirit of responsibility that has always been an integral part of the personality of women throughout the ages.
