Dubai:  The Kuwaiti Civil Service Commission has declared a three-day public holiday for Isra Wal Miraj, commencing on Thursday, January 30 to Saturday, February 1.

The occasion, also known as the Night Journey or Shab-e-Miraj, is a significant event in Islamic tradition commemorating Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) miraculous journey and ascension.

Although Isra Wal Miraj officially falls on Monday, January 27, the Kuwaiti Cabinet has decided to move the observance to Thursday to facilitate an extended weekend for residents.

During this period, all government departments and public institutions will remain closed, resuming regular operations on Sunday, February 2. Organisations with unique operational requirements, such as essential services, will arrange their holiday schedules as per their specific needs to ensure uninterrupted operations.

The adjustment reflects the government’s commitment to balancing the commemoration of religious occasions with practical considerations for the public.
