Explosion attributed to combination of chemical cleaning agents and high temperatures
Dubai: Three expatriate workers were killed on Monday when a water tank exploded at Mina Abdullah Port while they were cleaning it with chemical substances, according to Al Anba, an Arabic-language daily.
Citing a security source, the newspaper reported that a chemical reaction—possibly intensified by the day’s extreme heat—ignited the blast inside the tank.

Emergency police patrols, ambulances, and a team from the forensic evidence department quickly responded to the site.
Initial investigations suggest the combination of cleaning agents and high temperatures triggered the fatal reaction. Authorities have launched a full inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident as they work to determine the exact cause and assess whether safety protocols were followed.
