Production operations 'normal' as investigation underway to determine cause of incident
Cairo: One worker died and another injured in an industrial accident in an oil operation area in Kuwait, according to an official statement.
State-owned Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) said the accident had happened in its northern operations area on Tuesday.
The accident initially resulted in the injuring of two contractor workers, who were transferred to the hospital. Later, one of them succumbed to his wounds and died, KOC said.
"The company expresses its deep regret over the subsequent death of one of the workers at the hospital, while the condition of the other worker is stable."
KOC added that its emergency teams responded immediately to the accident and took all necessary measures to prevent any potential repercussions.
KOC said the accident did not affect production operations, which continued normally.
The company added that it has opened a "comprehensive investigation" to determine the circumstances and causes of the accident, ensuring all necessary measures are taken to prevent the recurrence of such happenings in the future.
KOC is a subsidiary of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, a company owned fully by the State of Kuwait. KOC’s primary role is to explore, develop and produce oil and gas in Kuwait.
