Manama: Bahrain's parliament has accused Israel of state terrorism and the use of banned weapons, calling for an immediate end to its genocidal attacks on Gaza.

"We strongly condemn the ruthless Israeli attacks and genocide of innocent victims, mainly women and children, in Gaza. We are shocked by the relentless bombardment of homes, schools, hospitals and shops and which reflects the terrorist and cruel policies of the Israeli enemy," the bicameral parliament said in a communiqué following the weekly sessions of the upper and lower houses.

"The international community has to assume its responsibilities and help secure an end to the atrocities in Gaza so that humanitarian efforts can reach the people under siege in the Gaza Strip."

However, the Shura Council, dominated by liberals, and the lower house where Islamists have 32 of the 40 seats, asked the Palestinians to overcome their disagreements and work towards greater unity.

"While we demand action against Israel's brutal attitudes, we urge the Palestinians to shun divisions and divergences and work together for the sake of their nation," the parliament said.
