COVID-19: Teachers return to Bahraini schools tomorrow

Cairo: Teachers and administrative staff in Bahrain are to return to government-run schools on Sunday, marking the beginning of the new academic year, the kingdom’s Education Ministry has said.

Education departments and schools will contact teachers to notify them of their work schedules alternatively doing the job from home and schools ensuring that 50 per cent of tutors will show up at school daily, the ministry said, according to Al Watan newspaper.

Students in Bahrain are due to begin the new school year on September 16 amid precautions against COVID-19. Parents have been given the option to choose for their children between class attendance or distance-learning in an effort to contain the spread of the new coronavirus.

In recent weeks, Bahrain, like other Gulf countries, has relaxed several restrictions earlier imposed due to the virus outbreak.
