Moscow: The Russian media on Friday reported that a journalist for the state-run Russian television has been foun dead in Moscow.
The ITAR-Tass news agency reported that firefighters found the body of Channel One correspondent Ilyas Shurpayev in
his rented apartment with stab wounds and a belt around his neck. The agency says a fire was apparently set after the
attack.
The 32-year-old journalist was a native of the mostly Muslim Dagestan province and had worked in Russia's
violence-ridden North Caucasus.
More than a dozen journalists have been slain in contract-style killings in Russia since 2000.
