London: The youngest son of Osama Bin Laden, Bakr, has arrived in Damascus towards  the end of December after being held in captivity in Iran for eight years, reported the London-based Arabic daily Asharq Al Awsat.

Bakr, along five other siblings were captured by Iranian authorities in Afghanistan following the invasion of 2001. The five brothers and a sister managed to escape from their captors in Tehran in December, taking refuge at the Saudi embassy. Saudi officials admitted at the time that they were in talks with Iranian authorities to arrange for the release of all the siblings.

Omar Bin Laden told the daily that the Iranian authorities are verifying the identities of his other siblings and hopefully they would be released as soon as they are authenticated. “We are ready to prove to the Iranians that these are sons of Osama Bin Laden. We also want to prove from our side good intentions and we will take my sister and brothers to any place they want us to outside of Iran. We want to come together as a family after eight years of sad separation”, said Omar.
