Oslo: An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale rocked Svalbard, a sparsely populated Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic, on Wednesday night.
A statement released by the Norsar seismic research institute on Thursday said the earthquake occurred 10 km below the surface of the sea and was felt in the Norweigian town of Longyearben.
This is the biggest earthquake in Norwegian history.
