British PM Brown launches question session on YouTube

London: British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has launched a weekly question and answer session on YouTube, in an attempt to connect with younger voters and dispel opposition jibes that he is not in tune with the digital age.

Internet users can pose their questions directly to Brown by posting a video message on the Ask the PM site.

He said, "Politicians get a chance in prime minister's question time and other question times, I think it's time the public had a chance."

During his YouTube clip, Brown invites questions on subjects such as globalisation, climate change, the health service, jobs and housing.

"I am here to answer your questions," he said.

Ask the PM is open to everyone and submissions have to be posted by June 21, with the PM's response to be shared shortly after.

Brown promised to answer the most popular queries regularly with his own video messages, the first of which appears on Monday at www.youtube.com/downingst.
