Katmandu: Thousands of political leaders and supporters on Sunday lined up at a public stadium in Katmandu to pay respect to Girija Prasad Koirala, Nepal's former prime minister who died at age 86.
Koirala who led mass protests that ended the king's authoritarian rule and helped deliver a peace deal to end 10 years of communist revolt died on Saturday.
The body was taken to Nepali Congress party headquarters and then brought to the stadium in a truck covered with flowers and party's red and white flags.
Prime Minisiter Madhav Kumar Nepal laid the national flag over the body.
