Kathmandu: Thousands of people flocked to a forest in southeast Nepal to see a boy many believe is the reincarnation of Lord Buddha, police said on Tuesday.

Seventeen-year-old Ram Bahadur Bamjon spoke to devotees from nearby villages on Monday in Ratanpuri, southeast of Kathmandu. He had been missing for more than a year.

"He spoke to the devotees standing near a temple in the forest," police constable Prakash Sen said. "He had shoulder-length hair and had his body wrapped in a white cloth."

Tens of thousand of people turned up to see Bamjon in 2005 in a forest where he reportedly lived for nearly ten months without food and water.
