Bangkok: Thailand's ruling People Power Party (PPP) nominated Somchai Wongsawat for prime minister, to replace Samak Sundaravej who was removed by the courts last week, a party spokesman said on Monday. Somchai, a brother-in-law of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra who was ousted in a 2006 coup, has been acting prime minister since Samak's departure. Parliament will vote for the new prime minister on Wednesday.
