Customs employee caught on security videos allegedly chasing student with his sports car
Manila: A customs employee, who went around driving expensive luxury cars, decided to quit his job recently, a month after he figured in a shooting incident in suburban Pasay City.
Paulino Elevado IV had resigned as clerk with the Bureau of Customs (BOC) a month after he was caught on security videos allegedly chasing and mauling a 20-year-old student with his Porsche sports car at the Southern Luzon Expressway on January 21.
Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon said Elevado gave no reason for his resignation, but said the BOC and other agencies will continue probes into the matter and the former custom clerk's considerable wealth.
Aside from a pricey Porsche Carrera, Elevado also owns six other luxury cars, a probe conducted by the Department of Finances' Revenue Integrity Protection Service shows.
He also allegedly has two houses in an upscale southern Metro Manila community. Elevado is said to have accumulated the assets despite a monthly salary of 9,000 pesos (Dh722) as a government clerk.
