MANILA, Philippines: A presidential guard member was killed in a shooting in Malacañang Park on Tuesday morning, near the residence of President Rodrigo Duterte, according to Philippine media.

Local media initially reported that the guard was only injured during the incident inside the Presidential Security Group (PSG) complex inside Malacañang Park.

Duterte, who lives in Bahay Pangarap, the official presidential residence within the park, had been informed of the incident, according to the security head.

PSG spokesman Mike Aquino confirmed the incident to local media but declined to disclose more details pending the investigation by crime scene officers, according to CNN Philippines.

The PSG complex is also within the park, right across the Pasig River from Malacañang Palace, the principal workplace of the Philippine president.
