Manila to appeal against dismissal

Manila: The Department of Foreign Affairs has vowed to file a petition to reopen the investigation of the rape case filed by an overseas Filipina worker against a US Marine in Okinawa after Japanese prosecutors dismissed the case last week, a senior Philippine official said.

"We will advise the complainant to file a motion for reinvestigation. That procedure is available under the Japanese judicial system," said foreign affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers, Esteban Conejos.
