Islamabad: Former president Pervez Musharraf's political ally Dr Sher Afgan Niazi, has resigned from the office of senior vice-president of the ex-military ruler's political party.
Niazi, who served as a federal minister during the Musharraf era, told the media he has quit as vice-president and also resigned from membership of the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), the party the former launched from London in October last year.
He, however, said he still regarded Musharraf as his leader but there were people within the party with whom he could no longer work.
The former minister is reportedly annoyed over the APML organisational matters in south Punjab and his Mianwali constituency there. Musharraf plans to return to Pakistan by March 23, 2012, from self-imposed exile.
