Islamabad: National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has summoned a member of parliament on Monday to his chamber to substantiate his allegation of immoral activities taking place in the hostel for parliamentarians in Islamabad.

Jamshed Dasti, an independent member of the National Assembly, created a stir in the political circles when he publicly alleged on Thursday rampant drinking, hashish smoking and female visitors involving immoral acts in the Parliament Lodges.

The Speaker took notice of the allegation and issued the summon to Dasti whose claims drew wide condemnation from parliamentary colleagues who blamed him for trying to gain cheap publicity.

Local media including private channels highlighted Dasti’s remarks and backed his demand for a detailed probe and follow up action.

Assembly officials said the member could face suspension from the parliament if he fails to prove his case.

Dasti told the media he was ready to furnish enough evidence and if the Speaker did not take action he may approach the Supreme Court.
