Thiruvananthapuram: Sufiya Madani, wife of People's Democratic Party chief Abdul Nasser Madani who was arrested in connection with the Kalamassery bus burning case, was Wednesday granted conditional bail by the Ernakulam sessions court.

The sessions court judge D. Pappachan granted her bail on a bond of Rs 1,00,000 (Dh 7,852) and two sureties for the same amount.

The bail is conditional and she cannot leave the jurisdiction of the sessions court. She also has to appear before the investigating officials whenever required and surrender her passport within a week to the court.

Sufiya was arrested on December 17 and remanded to judicial custody by the judicial first class magistrate court in Aluva, which had turned down her bail plea.

Last Tuesday, Sufiya was again in the news for a different reason when the wheel chair in which she was moved around in the Alappuzha medical college cracked, though she was not injured in the incident.
