Police have launched an intensive search for a man accused of fatally stabbing his wife and seriously injuring two of her relatives during a domestic dispute in Kerala's Pullad, Pathanamthitta district, on Saturday evening.

The accused, identified as Jayakumar, fled the scene after the attack and remains at large.

According to Koipuram Police, 38-year-old Sharimol, a native of Pullad, was stabbed multiple times by her husband following a heated altercation at her residence. When her father, Sasi, and sister Radhamani tried to intervene, they were also attacked and sustained serious injuries.

All three victims were rushed to Kottayam Medical College Hospital, where Sharimol succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of Sunday. Her father and sister are currently in stable condition but remain under medical supervision.

The shocking nature of the attack has left the quiet locality of Pullad reeling. Neighbours told police that the couple had frequent arguments in recent months, but no one expected the conflict to escalate so violently.

Police have registered a case of murder and attempted murder, and a special investigation team has been formed to track down Jayakumar. “We are actively searching for the accused. All checkpoints have been alerted, and multiple leads are being pursued,” said a senior police official.

Forensic teams have examined the scene, and investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the area. Authorities have also urged the public to come forward with any information that could help locate the suspect.

Sharimol’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and her funeral will be held after the report is received. The investigation remains ongoing.
