Srinagar: A Kashmir state elections candidate survived an onslaught by Muslim militants at his home on Thursday, police said.
Abdul Hameed Reshi of Lok Janshakti party was at his home when the gunmen opened fire, police said.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack which took place in the Anantnag district, 55 kilometres south of Srinagar.
The district is due to vote on December 17 as part of a month-and-a-half long election for the state assembly.
"Guards posted at the residence retaliated, however no loss of life or injury was reported," a police statement said.
