Morena: At least 11 people have died after consuming suspected spurious liquor in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district, police said on Tuesday.

According to the police, probe is underway to ascertain whether the deaths were due to the excessive liquor consumption or it was poisonous.

Sources said that four people in Sumawali and seven in Manpur villages died after consuming suspected spurious liquor on Monday night.

Several others fell seriously ill and they were referred to Morena district hospital and Gwalior medical college for treatment.

Inspector General of Police, Chambal, Manoj Sharma said that the cause of death is being investigated.
