New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the bail plea of imprisoned lawmaker Kanimozhi and two others.
Kanimozhi, daughter of former Tamil Nadu chief minister M. Karunanidhi, moved to the Delhi High Court following rejection of her bail application by the trial court last week.
Besides Kanimozhi, regional Kalaignar TV CEO Sharad Kumar and film producer Karim Morani have also sought bail from the High Court.
All three of them are currently lodged in Delhi's Tihar Jail following their arrest in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
The CBI once again opted not to oppose Kanimozhi's bail. "We reiterate our stand as before trial court. There is no deviation in our stand," CBI lawyer informed the High Court.
Kanimozhi has sought bail on grounds of being a woman and a mother. This is the second time she is moving the Delhi High Court. It had rejected her bail application earlier in June citing her political clout.
