Hyderabad :The film rivalry between two popular stars seems to be extending to the political arena.
In the continuing war of words between Chiranjeevi, who wound up his Praja Rajyam party to join the Congress, and Balakrishna, brother-in-law of Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu, the latter yesterday declared that he was ready to contest against Chiranjeevi in the assembly elections, if the party asks him to do so.
Speaking after unveiling the statue of his father and TDP founder N.T. Rama Rao at Paderu in Visakhapatanam, Balakrishna declared that he will be entering active politics and contest the 2014 assembly polls.
"I am confident that the people will give me the same love, affection and support in politics which they have been extending to me as an actor," he said.
He also exuded confidence that it will not matter from which constituency and which region he will contest.
"The people of all the regions love me equally," Balakrishna said.
