Beijing: China says hundreds of people have surrendered to police in Tibetan areas following recent violence, amid rising international pressure over a crackdown on demonstrators mounted ahead of the Beijing Olympics.
State-run media announced Wednesday that more than 600 people had turned themselves in to police in the Tibetan capital of Lhasa and in China's western Sichuan province.
The official Xinhua News Agency said police also published a list of 53 people wanted in connection with the riots, and that at least 29 have been formally arrested.
