Doctor of Suu Kyi held after US man's mystery visit

Yangon: The personal doctor of detained Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been detained for questioning by the authorities after an American man was arrested for allegedly sneaking into her closely guarded home by swimming across a lake.

The detention, reported by her political party, adds more mystery to the alleged May 3 intrusion by a man who the state-run press reported stayed at Suu Kyi's home for two days.

Suu Kyi is allowed virtually no visitors aside from her doctor.

Thursday's press report said "John Willian Yeattaw" confessed he swam to Suu Kyi's compound and "secretly entered the house and stayed there," before being arrested nearby on Wednesday morning.
