Kabul: British Prime Minister Gordon Brown arrived in Afghanistan on Thursday for talks with President Hamid Karzai.
Brown is expected to urge the Afghan leader to work with Pakistan against terrorism.
"I'll be pressing on President Karzai the need for there to be greater cooperation with the Pakistani authorities," Brown told reporters travelling on a plane with him to Afghanistan.
A surge of violence has swept the borders between Afghanistan and Pakistan, a region known as a hotbed for Taliban militants.
Afghanistan blames Pakistan for not doing enough to control Taliban activity across the borders.
