US, French leaders agree on series of summits on financial crisis

Maryland: US President George W. Bush and French President Nicolas Sarkozy have agreed to a series of summits on the global financial crisis.

The first summit of the heads of government is scheduled "soon after the US elections" on November 4, according to a statement.

The world leaders are expected to review progress being made the address the current crisis and seek agreement on reform.

Later summits "would be designed to implement agreement on specific steps to be taken to meet those principles," the statement read.

Sarkozy, who is seeking a relaunch of the international financial system, arrived on Saturday for a three hour meeting with Bush at the president's retreat at Camp David.
