Rabat: Morocco's state news agency says 24 people have been arrested on suspicion of links to a terrorist cell recruiting suicide bombers for Iraq and fighters for Somalia and Afghanistan.

The Interior Ministry says the suspects were detained in cities and towns around Morocco.

A MAP news agency report Wednesday cites the Interior Ministry as saying the network was coordinating with terrorists in Sweden, Belgium and the Iraq-Syria border. It says the network recruited about 20 people prepared to take part in suicide bombings to Iraq and sent them to the region.

The report says the group was also suspected of recruiting fighters to join militants in Somalia and Afghanistan.

No other details were immediately available.
