London: British Prime Minister Gordon Brown urged African Union (AU) leaders meeting in Egypt on Monday to tell Zimbabwe's president to change his leadership.
Brown told reporters he hoped the AU "will make it absolutely clear that there has got to be change" in Zimbabwe, adding: "A new government has got to be brought in."
"I think the message that is coming from the whole world is that the so-called elections will not be recognised," Brown said. "People want the violence and intimidation to end.
Mugabe was attending the AU summit where he was expected to face pressure to negotiate with the Zimbabwean opposition after winning a one-candidate election.
