Dubai: Residents across parts of the UAE experienced rainfall and foggy skies today, July 24, despite temperatures soaring up to 48 degrees Celsius in Mezaira in Al Dhara region.

And based on the weather alert issued by the Met Office, weather conditions are expected to change over the weekend.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued an alert which states, “the region will be affected by the extension of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ICTZ) and its movement from the south towards the country, along with the advancement of surface and upper-level low-pressure systems from the south.”

According to the forecast, moist air masses will flow from the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman towards the UAE, which will affect regions of the country causing convective clouds.

Some eastern and southern regions, and some internal areas as well will be affected, according to the alert from Friday to Monday, July 25 to July 28.

Residents can expect convective clouds, accompanied by rainfall of varying intensity. There will also be a chance of small hail, along with lightning and thunder at times, the forecast states.
