Sheikh Hamdan’s latest initiative encourages residents to rethink familiar spaces
Dubai: Shopping malls across Dubai will turn into indoor fitness tracks during morning hours throughout August, in an initiative that encourages community members to stay physically active and embrace a healthy lifestyle.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council on Thursday launched the “Dubai Mallathon” initiative.
“Today, we launched the ‘Dubai Mallathon’ – an initiative that transforms shopping malls across the city into indoor fitness tracks, encouraging the Dubai community to stay active comfortably and safely during morning hours throughout August. Aligned with the Dubai Social Agenda 33, the initiative places health and wellbeing at the core of daily life,” Sheikh Hamdan said in a post on his X account.
He added: “As a new community initiative launched from Dubai’s malls, it’s a simple idea with a powerful goal: bringing healthy, active living into familiar everyday spaces.”
As part of the initiative, dedicated walking and running tracks will be introduced in seven of Dubai’s major shopping destinations, including Dubai Mall, Dubai Hills Mall, Springs Souk, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif, Mall of the Emirates, and Dubai Marina Mall.
