The Sharjah Islamic Museum will organise a workshop on the 'Ebro' method of preserving ancient books and wood engraving.

The workshop, being held in coordination with child centres in Sharjah between June 15-July 15, will take place between 5 pm -8pm, and will be held on Sundays and Tuesdays at the Islamic Museum.

'Ebro' is an old Islamic art form used in ancient times to laminate holy and valuable books. It was also used to keep transcripts intact engraved on wood.

Students as well as parents have shown great interest in the workshops organised in recent years.

The Department of Heritage will also organise workshops on making traditional handicrafts, toys and ornaments from gypsum and wood between June 15-29, at Sharjah Heritage Museum.

The workshops will be held daily between 5pm and 7pm, and are expected to produce items such as swings, chairs, tables, traditional tents, boats, pottery and toys.

The workshops will conclude with an exhibition of the items produced with prizes and certificates to be distributed to the participants.
