Scattered rain expected over next couple of days

Al Ain: Scattered rain is expected today and over the next couple of days in the UAE, particularly in the eastern and northern areas, with a dip in the temperatures giving a sigh of relief to the people in the hot pre-summer conditions.

Forecasters said a weather system has developed over the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Oman, that has been pumping moisture in the atmosphere.

A trail of clouds has been moving over the Arabian peninsula from north Africa towards Iran and Pakistan. On Sunday, it drizzled in some parts of Dubai and Al Ain and skies were completely cloudy since morning. Similar conditions were also reported from other desert areas, though conditions were hazy in the coastal areas.

Visibility

Strong winds create the conditions to a mild sandstorm in parts of Dubai and open areas. The visibility was however sufficient on highways.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said the weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy in general over the next couple of days with a chance of some scattered rain and a fall in temperature.

Winds will continue to blow dust and sand in the interior open areas that may reduce the horizontal visibility. the sea will be moderate to rough. The maximum temperature yesterday was 25 to 41 degrees Celsius in the coastal areas, 24C to 46C in the interior areas, and 22C to 36C in the mountainous areas.
