UAE Red Crescent Authority to rush 35 tonnes of foodstuff to Mauritania
Abu Dhabi: A relief plane of the Red Crescent Authority will leave for Mauritania within couple of days to offer humanitarian aid to the needy there.
Dr Ali Abdullah Al Ka'abi, Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA), said the plane would carry 35 tonnes of food items, which will be distributed to the underprivileged.
He said the consignment, ordered by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and RCA President, include food packages for children.
Reports received by the RCA from Mauritania showed that many Mauritanian people have been reeling under the impact of drought and desertification and their conditions have been badly deteriorating, he said.
