Cape Town: The UAE called on Iran to end its occupation of the three UAE islands of Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Mousa.

The call was made by Ahmad Shebib Al Dahiri, first deputy speaker of the Federal National Council and head of the UAE's delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), before its General assembly, yesterday.

Al Dahiri said despite the raft of resolutions including those issued by the Arab Summit in Damascus, Arab Foreign Ministers in Cairo and the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), which consider the Islands as occupied Arab land, Iran is still committing violations not conducive to building confidence in response to initiatives aimed at settling the issue.
